When you enroll your child at Carlton Academy Day School, small feet take big steps. Our online process is secure, thorough and convenient.

Policies to Benefit Our Carlton Academy Children

Hours of Operation
Carlton Academy operates between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:30 pm, every Monday through Friday, with the exception of  closures for holidays.

Child Care Programs
The health and well being of your infant and toddler is our highest priority.  Some half day programs are available for older students, however, our Infant and Toddler Programs accept only enrollments for a full time schedule (providing families facility access for all hours of operation Monday- Friday). We offer only full day programs for our youngest children in order to maintain strict adherence to all state and county regulations, low child-to-staff ratios, our one-child-per-crib policy and numerous other health considerations.

Consistency in Enrollment
Our carefully planned programs and curriculum are designed with learning activities scheduled in the morning and afternoon for a full day and week of development and growth for your child. Learning objectives can be planned and delivered when classroom schedules are consistently observed by teachers and families. Perhaps more importantly, consistency benefits children, teachers and staff by providing an environment that provides nurturing and enhances learning.

Two Year Olds, Early Preschool, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten Parents can choose either a full day schedule or a half-day schedule.  There are limited spaces for 3 day and 2 day programs as well.  Please contact us or come for a visit for specific, current information on availability.

For these reasons, we ask parents to commit to maintaining schedules. In addition, Carlton Academy has created the following policies to help us keep our commitment to quality for all of the children:

Notification of Schedule Change, should you decide to reduce your child’s schedule, requires a one month notice in writing to Carlton Academy. After notice is given, please note that, if there are families on a full-time schedule wait list, we will be unable to reduce your billing to less than full-time. Should that occur, you have the right to withdraw your notice and keep your child’s full-time schedule. In the event that notice is not given, regular tuition will be charged and payment automatically debited. If you decide to add to your child’s existing schedule, Carlton Academy requires one-week notice. Once notice has been accepted, billing for the current tuition rate will continue for the week in which the notice was given and an additional amount equal to a full month tuition at “full week” rates prorated for only those weeks remaining in that calendar month. Additions will be handled on a space available basis.

Notification of Withdrawal from Program, should you decide to withdraw your child from their scheduled program, Carlton Academy requires 30 day written notice.

The Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) was implemented in 2002 in order to give ALL of Florida’s four-year-olds access to a quality prekindergarten educational experience. The VPK program is FREE to families and does not have any income requirements or restrictions.

The Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) is designed to prepare Florida’s children for kindergarten and develop the skills they need to become good readers and successful students. VPK includes standards for literacy skills, strict accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes and qualified instructors. Parents have the option of enrolling children in a school-year program that consists of 540 instructional hours, OR a summer program, consisting of 300 instructional hours. The Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County administers the Voluntary Prekindergarten Program at the local level.

*Your application for obtaining the voucher (to then provide to Carlton Academy) is submitted to and processed by the ELC of Hillsborough County.

Parents, the ELC of Hillsborough is now accepting enrollments for the 2017-2018 VPK School Year Program. Parents or legal guardians may register for VPK in person at several locations throughout the county. However, BEGINNING APRIL 1, 2017 parents will be able to register online for the 2017-2018 VPK School Year Program.   (SEE BELOW FOR A QUICK LINK TO REGISTER ONLINE OR TO PRINT APPLICATION.)  Parents wishing to enroll prior to the availability of online registration must do so in person as stated above.
