alice wonderland

This May, Tampa Ballet Theatre will be falling down the rabbit hole in an original contemporary ballet. Tampa Ballet Theatre will be closing its season with two performances of Alice In Wonderland. Alice In Wonderland features original choreography by Artistic Director, Lindsay Clark, with Tyler Anderson as assistant tap choreographer for The Tea Party Scene. The performances will be held Saturday May 9th at 7:00pm and Sunday May 10th at 5:00pm at the Hillsborough Community College Mainstage Theatre in Ybor. Tickets are available for purchase starting April 13th. Adult tickets are $25 per ticket, Senior tickets (55+) are $20 per ticket, and Children and College Student tickets are $15 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the Tampa Bay Ballet studio, online at, at the theatre, or by calling 813-814-0587. Ticket prices are subject to change.
Alice in Wonderland will be starring TBT II Trainee, Ashley Coppin as Alice, TBT Apprentice Nathaniel Reyes as The White Rabbit, TBT Company Member Madeline Axlund as The Queen of Hearts, TBT Company Member Charles Java as The King of Hearts, and TBT Company Member Tyler Anderson as The Mad Hatter.
“This comical role as The King has been such a refreshing change from such serious roles in the past” said Java, who recently performed as Romeo in Tampa Ballet Theatre’s Romantic Pas De Deux performance last February.
Alice In Wonderland is a 2 act ballet based off of the 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland written by Lewis Carrol, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. The Music is by Carl Davis who created the original Alice in Wonderland score in 1995 mostly derived of the famous Tchaikovsky’s works. The story of Alice in Wonderland follows a young girl named Alice who falls down the rabbit hole and discovers the mysterious world called Wonderland. Alice encounters many strange creatures while in Wonderland including the grinning Cheshire Cat (Heather Mills) and the curious Caterpillar (Brooke Bayless). Alice In Wonderland will be an exciting and mad time suitable for all families to enjoy.
“A lot of people think of ballet as an uptight art,” states Clark, “although ballet itself is very structured, not all ballets are meant to be taken seriously. Alice In Wonderland is meant to be comical and outrageously silly.”
Tampa Ballet Theatre is a non-profit professional ballet company located in the Tampa Bay Area. Tampa Ballet Theatre was founded by Lindsay Clark in 2012. The mission of the Tampa Ballet Theatre is to educate, entertain, and broaden the outlook of the community through the world of classical and contemporary ballet. The company prides itself in preserving the classical masterpieces of previous centuries while creating new contemporary and classical productions for the Greater Tampa Bay area. Tampa Ballet Theatre engages itself in community functions to help give back to the community through the art of ballet and lending a structural support for the arts. Tampa Ballet Theatre is affiliated with its school, Tampa Bay Ballet where students receive pre-professional training from some of the best professionals in the Tampa Bay area.
